human rights

Human rights are universal and indivisible. They must be at the heart of all EU policies, both within our borders and around the world. As coordinator for the Greens-EFA on the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI), I work tirelessly to ensure that the EU lives up to its commitments to protect and promote human rights for all.

My priorities include:

Fighting the shrinking of civil space: Across the globe, we're witnessing a worrying trend of governments restricting civic freedoms, silencing dissent, and persecuting human rights defenders. I work to counter this by supporting civil society organizations, defending freedom of expression, and holding governments accountable for their repression.

Raising the alarm on the most blatant human rights violations: From the ongoing occupation of Palestine to the brutal conflict in Sudan, I strive to shine a light on the gravest human rights abuses. I utilize parliamentary tools like urgent resolutions, debates, and questions to the Commission to keep these issues at the forefront of the EU's agenda and demand action.

Connecting trade, business and human rights: I work on the intersection of human rights, business and trade by addressing issues like labour exploitation in global supply chains, and the impact of environmental damage by companies on communities. I work with local human rights and environmental activists to shed a light on their causes and promote EU action that is in line with its commitments to human rights.

Promoting peace, democracy and the rule of law: Peace, democracy and the rule of law are essential for the protection of human rights. I work to support democratic movements around the world and to hold authoritarian regimes accountable for their human rights abuses.
